Envisioning Equal Justice with PLEIs

I wrote recently that I had the good fortune of attending the CBA’s Envisioning Equal Justice Summit in Vancouver. I was thrilled to have the opportunity not merely because it was my first invitation as accredited media, but also and mainly because access to justice themes are ones I care deeply about. To be invited to attend, participate, and write to shine a light on the good #a2j work of others was a reward.

An early session put a worthy set of players in just such a light. Public legal education initiatives, or PLEIs, are important members of the access to justice landscape. They are the first point of contact for many people as they try to understand rights and remedies applicable to their situations.

The Slaw piece I wrote on this session drew from this detailed Storify post I wrote around a selection of tweets from the room.
